scrawled
on our chests
our backs
our head
ghame hussain
the color red
bleeding poetry
hussainiyat
the shia homestead
iron in our souls
concrete and lead
to cry
for a Mother
we were bred
a path
that on embers of coal

as shias
we have bled
to protest against terrorism
writing on a wall
you never read
the scourge of Damascus
the butcher of Karbala
yazid ibn mauwiyah
hatred spread
instead of his hand
Hussain gave his head
Hussainiyat is Alive
Hussain is Humanity
Accursed Yazid is dead
