Most of us have encountered loneliness some point and time in our lives.
Loneliness is like a ghostly shadow following you everywhere you go It becomes your friend by choice or by circumstance showing up at events Trying to prevent you from enjoying yourself wispering negative words in your ear Is what It does best He is the last thing you realize at night And the first thing you realize in the morning Greeting you with open arms with a smirk on his face He takes your mind to far away places Into deep abyss and on mountain tops Filling your mind with unreal fantasies Turning your life up side down like a roller coaster And then he bring you back to reality So the next time you see loneliness be aware He has nothing but heart- aches and pain to share HeTakes away your happiness and leaves you sad So go out and find someone to show love and care Copyright 2009 Milton Handfield

The way you make Loneliness a person, brings the reality of "it" more direct. I hadn't thought of loneliness in that way before, and now it gives me a different perspective. I've always believed that we can be in the middle of a room with many people around, and still be so lonely inside. Perhaps that is why we should heed your words...and care about others, reach out.... another good write. hugs, lindalaw

You made Loneliness alive in these lines and I like the personification of him, makes us more aware of his schemes and ways...with a resolute
last line on how to give him a knock-out. Great write!
