You call me out of my desert,
into a world of confusion.
Filled with the scorn of bitter hearts.
So much pain.
And so many broken spirits.

You call me to be your envoy,
an ambassador of your grace.
To a people lost and confused.
So lonely.
You call me and I hear your voice.

The fears

There are so many angry souls.
Ready to overwhelm the weak.
Afraid of their own weaknesses.
Such cruelty.
Blindly they struggle in quicksand.

I am afraid of this calling.
In this mission I fear the pain,
of feeling the ache of others.
Empathy.
And getting lost in the battle.

The assurance

Your Spirit touches me deeply,
and reassures my fragile heart.
Showing me there is always hope.
Assurance.
Your promise to stay close to me.

Your pure love enfolds me softly.
Like a strong cloak made of fine silk.
You shelter me from the cold disdain.
My shelter.
You fill my heart with compassion.

The first steps

I enter the fray and shudder,
At the bloody sight of conflict.
I see the blank trance like faces.
So vacant.
Of those wondering in a maze.

With each encounter I feel sick.
Feeling fears welling up in me.
My nerve is pushed to the limits.
Faltering.
And yet you are ever with me.

The challenge

With each lost soul I encounter,
there is a bittersweet insight.
As every face tells a story.
Novella.
So I need to keep adapting.

And yet I must never lose sight,
of the task I have been sent on.
And the gift of your salvation.
Perception
Revealing the goal of all things.

The rewards

I know each day is a calling,
where I will be tested and tried.
As if tomorrow wont come.
Live bravely.
My rewards are not of this earth.

In distant places and far fields,
I will find my labours treasures.
Safely kept from all corruption.
Safe keeping.
Indescribable in mere words.
