Shadows and street lights
headlights that blaze,
people in houses
hidden away.
Soon they fade
taken over by fields
where crops
pigs and sheep are the yield.
On into the night
the train rolls past
the lights of farm houses
and a different way of life.
I caught my reflection
on the window
not one that I recognised
distorted no doubt
by the lights
of a station we pased by.
High embankments
with many trees
tunnels and under several bridges,
they all make a fool
of my mobil call home
'I'll be there-----'
but soon never got through.
We stop at Diss
a station thats old
all part of the land that the night
now holds,
people open doors
and come aboard
some expressing
how it is cold,
then we move on
to pastures new
places where everything
changes the view.
Ipswich Colchester
forward we go
then comes Stratford
and the Olympic bowl.
Londons tube trains
their familar red
tell me I will be home soon
later to bed.
Just fifteen minutes
then we arrive
Liverpool Street
At seven twenty nine,
off I hurry
down to the tube
where I join a busy throng
all on the underground going home.
