How far away is far away
Is all the way over on the couch far enough
As far away as a Boeing can fly in a day
Or is that just around the corner

I guess it depends
On what it is that’s far away
Some of the closest things in my life
Are twelve thousand miles from the nearest runway end
And some of the longest trips I’ve ever taken
Were from the couch to you in that old bentwood rocking chair

People say that distance make the heart grow fonder
And I don’t doubt it but I know this too
Sometimes the fondest of the heart makes the distance grow longer
So if you ever get the feeling that I’m waiting for a Boeing
To get me off the couch and over to you
Just remember it’s my heart
That makes me seem so far away
