As deep as bees within their den-- Perceptions reference mortal sin. He took those to his country's war Where morals stained a bloodied shore.
His rights and wrongs now shot to Hell-- The peal of guns, his vesper bell. Each night the darkness rent in twain By bombs and death one might explain
By politics that brought him here To live or die for cause unclear. His booted steps on Satan's road-- Awaiting calls to lock and load.

having been there and done that in a different time and place than Iraq, I do believe you are correct...frankly though, war is not hell...learning to live with its effects afterwards is.
