Lightening flashes,
Thunder roars,
And rain beats
A staccato drum
Upon the roof,
All in concert with
The passion swelling
Within me.
Looking in the mirror
I see the same flashes
In my eyes,
Hear the same roars
In my ears,
And feel the staccato beats
Within my heart
As I swing turbulently
Between anger
And lust,
Mindlessly frustrated
By the realities
Of being
A military wife.
Where are you
When I need you most?
Do you struggle as I do
There where you are?
Then I sigh,
Defeated once again for
Duty comes first,
That is the rule,
But that doesn't mean
I can always accept it
Gracefully.
