A poem for my story I am writing, because of the dream I keep having about this child.
The face I see is not my own
You float into my dreams
On the hill is your resting place
and time is still within
I wish I knew who you were
and why you haunt my dreams
Lizzie is what I call you
but know that is not your name
You come into my sleeping mind
and tell me all these tales
About how you came to be that way
Up on that big old hill
You said he came to you one day
When you were outside alone
He took you to a abandoned place
and kept you hidden for so long
He made you do awful things
and said you would be ok
But he lied to you and took you away
to that place up on the hill
I wish I could find out why
and where you really belong
So that I can set you free
and help you heal the wounds you have
so that you can go on home.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
