Remembering Trayvon...
I looked at his parents and felt so proud, for...what 'seemed like' a defeat was in fact a 'portrait' of God-given character and strength.
I have seen the multicolored throng of demonstrators leading up to this day...so, I know that there is not one human being alive, who cannot relate to the shameful verdict that just came forth in one of Florida's Courts. Irregardless of race, creed, color or national origin, there is not one person who has not known, to some degree, the 'pain' of tolerating an unjust act. Thus, this inspiration comes forth not just for the obvious, but for others also. 'We' are not just here. 'We' live all over the world. 'We' come in all colors, creeds, shapes and sizes. 'We' are those who know what it means to shed hot tears from unbalanced scales...but still, miraculously, somehow... 'We'...through the grace and mercy of Almighty God... persevere.
Strictly from the law's standpoint, with the person declared innocent and having to prove one's guilt, the question of self-defense with no one actually there, is still up in the air and therefore cause for, “reasonable doubt.”
On the other hand, someone who carries a gun in a neighborhood without the credentials of a peace officer, and I emphasize, “peace,” is immediately suspect, and perhaps, acting criminally. With a long list of challenging people in the neighborhood, that he considered “undesirable,” Zimmerman was regularly a bully violating others' civil rights.
Hopefully, the Department of Justice will be able to gather enough evidence to file charges against Zimmerman for his obvious civil rights violations.
All those that are crying out for poor little Trayvon, should be aware that his size and demeanor may have allowed him to confront his bully, leading to the ultimate, unfortunate, outcome. A good reason why we should ban firearms. While a fist fight is not a proper response to confrontation, shooting someone who is unarmed is a cowardly act of a bully.
I, too, know the sting of unfair justice from unbalanced scales first hand, Joyce. I can well relate to this, my friend. We must have faith in knowing that God will be the final judge of us all. God bless you and yours.
