Did you know…our thoughts of…
Beautiful Butterflies…
can lift our minds from dens of despair
to a place where…like them…we fly
So real, is this…visual…blessing
it can fill us with faith that’s not seen
for whether we’re up or down…they flutter
here and there within our …scene
Why, it’s a priceless gift…for the open heart
for all…who will receive…
the …vow…from His Holy Word
and recall…‘He’ll never leave’
But only by truly believing
can this revealing be caught
through the opening of the spiritual eye
to absorb…each word…He has taught
He promised…to ever be with us
we need only gather this truth to… see
the purpose of all His Marvelous Creations …
was to encourage…you and me
Wherever we may roam…there dost soar
on the chords of a cherub’s…eternal hymn
melodies to the …Majesty…of His Reign…
natures Art…which celebrates…Him!
And…to His Marvelous Power
and HisLove Divine which will never die!
we...embrace… His Glorious Promised Presence…
which hovers…like…Beautiful Butterflies!

In this poem, you feature butterflies as a gift from "God." I believe you know that the ubiquitous Monarch butterfly is in peril of extinction. The primary plant that enables the Monarch butterfly to populate the entire North American continent every summer, the milkweed, is being systematically destroyed. Corporate farms hate weeds of all kinds and, therefore, have tried to eliminate any place they grow and have used copious amounts of herbicide to rid the countryside and crops of them.
I recall in my youth seeing countless Monarch butterflies fluttering about and whacking off the tops of milkweed to see that sticky, milky substance they had inside. That substance, when ingested by the Monarch, becomes a poison for birds. Birds instinctively, and Cheney food from experience, avoid attacking the Monarch butterfly, and even some imposters that have similar orange color and markings.
Yet we think it's God's way that we should have clean and neat food and ethanol production without unsightly weeds. Systematically depriving the Monarch butterfly of its food and reproduction. Such are our Puritan ways.
I think it's time for us to honor God in other ways and allow the milkweed and the Monarch butterfly to live and let live.
