There is a time...for everything. So...sharing my First Time, of a Last Time(-: Pressing on, amen!

Yesterday was a ‘first’ for me…a lesson that’ll never flee I like to do things my way, and this is a fact so, no matter how my body is signaling for the ‘lav’ I’ll go when I want to…and that is that. Let me clarify and say… it took years for me to get this way, as... I used to work as a CNA and when, right in the middle of making rounds… I had to use the bathroom, I didn’t stop but…’held it’ until the last patient was done, without a frown. Thus, it had become a habit…‘the urge’ …to ignore whereby if I was involved in something deemed important I chose to ‘procrastinate’, as I had always done before. As it turns out...there I was sitting at the computer performing a task called…necessary…for me and though I should’ve responded to ‘bladder’s call’ decided to do my usual…and ‘wait’ to relieve. As I finished my on-line project… and then stood to go to the ‘ladies room’… oh my goodness…! Niagara falls opened up… like an uncontrollable monsoon! I couldn’t believe it…was I actually wet?! I mean…not just a trickle but it mimicked …a flood…bursting a net! Yet, as I made haste to get cleaned up… I could only give my God thanks for all the times I had successfully …delayed but hence, that was all over…casted to ‘use-to-be’ banks. Albeit…now, at 80…a new road for me has dawned there is a change that I cannot overlook with a…yawn for, just as soon as my body ‘pokes’ me to…'go’ without hesitation I quickly obey(smile)…Acting Like I Know. Most women come to that point. I've known women in their 40s who had to run. You remind me of my mother, who held out for a very long time. I'm glad you shared it with us in good humor.

After my surgery when I was 20, and they took my indwelling catheter out, I couldn't go. So they put it back in for another few days. The second time worked and I was able to go normally again. But from that time forward, I couldn't hold it. And found myself pulling off the highway many times to find a tree to hide behind.

And I urinated quite often as it increased and made it more difficult during my professional life until I started using an external catheter and leg bag in 1993 at work. As I write this, I have run to the pan about six times today and average about 20 times a day. It's just second nature with me. After so long.
