What opens our melancholy tombs…
reaching in with…tangent blooms?
What leads us to an unknown place…
where subdued are…our aches?
What dabs our…anxious burns…
with ‘quelling oil’…tapering concerns?
What refills our gutted shelves, with hope…
nurturing…vie…to cope?
What dips us in …waters of restoring…
giving heed to our pleas and imploring?
Despite our yen to…despondency cleave…
what pushes us to gather…healing leaves?
What removes cloths of depleted laith…
overlaying us with tapestries of faith?
What cajoles us within…ageless arms…
fulfilling promises to…calm…all our alarms?
What is this thing so potent, so deep…
which refuses to allow…our soul’s defeat…?
Raising us, yea…on streams from above…
tis nothing other than…God’s Love!

Late in life, many turned to an external source, like God, to find it. Really too bad when we had it all along.
