*One Last Wish* Christmas tree still stands Smelling of fresh cut pine. The lights are still sparkling Few needles on the ground. Presents have been opened Kids playing with their toys. Santa granted their wishes They were good girls and boys. Grandpa’s on the couch Snoring to a Christmas tune. He’s all tuckered out Grandma will join him soon. Christmas came way too fast Floor is littered with its joy. Boxes, tissue and ribbons Many wonderful toys. Christmas tree still standing Lights still sparkle and glisten. Santa, grant me one last wish I’ve been good, please listen. “I wished it was still Christmas” Deborah Ann Tornillo Copyright© 2009
