My Last Song

Daddy, I wished you were here

To wipe away my tears

Please, help me stay strong

As I sing my last song.

You would always encourage me

Be as strong as I could be.

Hold my head high

And, not let life’s sorrows deprive.

Daddy, please wipe away my tears

Wipe them from my cheeks

As your youngest child

I feel so weak.

I’m doing my best to stay strong

Many things are going wrong.

Holding my head up high

Yet, many challenges arise.

You always said support my man

Care for him as long as I can

Daddy, my heart is breaking

I’m weak and can hardly stand.

Daddy, I wished you were here

To wipe away my tears

Please, help me stay strong

As I sing my last song.

There is strength in remembering our parents, but we never asked to replace them.
With none left we have to somehow find it within us- or them within us.
One day- one hour at a time.
I'm wishing too.

John
