Blue Bird of Happiness
When I’m at the cabin
Buried under the mountain trees
You visit me, and gently
Smile away my tears.
Throughout the past three years
You come to me when I’m sad.
I’m trying my best, but still
Struggling against the glad.
I remember the photo
Kneeling on weakened knees
As you nurtured a broken wing
So a baby Blue Jay could sing.
A blue bird of happiness
You loved and nurtured back.
When it was strong enough
You smiled, as it took flight.
Dad, when I’m at the cabin
I smile when I see thee.
My blue bird of happiness
You visit me, and gently
Smile away my tears.

Encounters with a fox and a number of deer, and a snake- all gave me permission to visit.
I find it very healing to be with nature's creatures.
Good nature poetry.
