How can a person stay out of Harm's Way when he lives in a hostile world that is filled with adversaries who are eager to devour whoever and whatever they can seize?
There are ways, ways and ways; ways that lead to destruction and ways that lead to health. The most costly and deadliest way to traverse one's journey is harm's way. Harm's way has many faces: war, terrorism, thievery robbery, food, drinks and drugs that debilitate the body and mind, pollution, out-of-season sex, beliefs, traditions, negaive thinking, unhealthy attitudes and friendly fire friends.
With such vast array of potentially deadly or debilitating adversaries a person might ask: 'How is it possible for me to stay our of harm's way?" The most important thing that a person can do is to achieve a survival-consciousness. Affirm: I will survive, I will be good to myself, I will be my own best friend. In addition, consciously do the following:
Be perceptive. Ernest Miller Hemingway said that he owed his success to being able to detect the crap. See a thing for what it is, no more or less. Learn how to decrap crap or when possible avoid it altogether.
Be alert. Early in my military life I was told that there are two kinds of soldiers: an alert soldier and a dead soldier and that I could choose which of these I wanted to be. To be alert is to see, be and do on time or ahead of time
Mind your own business. Many people get into rather than stay out of harm's way by not minding their own business. Getting into other folk's business can be harmful, even deadly.
Don't seek to be a hero. Most heroes die prematurely, mainly because they put their egoes ahead of using common sense. I once read a Proverb that said, "A live dog is better than a dead lion."
Have faith in yourself. As a transcendent being a human being is able to transcend himself and his situation. That includes being able to rise beyond harm's way even when he is in harm's way by not allowing his situation to determine what happens to him.
More than any other animal, man is able to sense, even to know, where harm's way exists. He may choose to stay out of harm's way even when there are war-mongering tyrants without and within himself ordering or mandating that he serve in harm's way. Neither outside forces such as the Governmernt or inside forces such as an addiction has the power to place a person in harm's way unless he concedes to them. Choice is the greatest power that a person possesses. It is the power to choose. Set before you this day are life and death. Let it be said, "You chose life."
A very true and instructive composition Uriah
