What are your goals? I've been asked more times than
I care to remember or guess.
"You've got to have plans; people who do not have
plans, plan to fail," I was told.
Admittedly, for a number of years, I took seriously
the gospel according to goals and plans.
I do not wish to remember the anxiety, desperation and
sleepless nights my pursuit of goals and plans caused me.
It seemed as if I never had enough time to do the things
I needed and wanted to do.
After listening to my goal-plan-time-deficit story, a
friend said to me, "You have as much time as Rockefeller,
twenty-four hours in a day."
This statement was an eye-opener. I could not get it out
of my mind. It caused me to think differently about my
commitment and to shift away from being goal and plan
driven.
Now without focusing on goals and plans I live in the now
and in the flow. As Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh said, "Don't
swim float."
Now I can say as Soul Man James Brown exclaimed,
"I feel good!"
Now I do not have to have the illusion that I am in or can
control the situation, but can use the freedom I have to
intuitively and confidently respond to present reality.
Now I live by faith that is saturated with hope and love.
I testify that what goals and plans could not do and cannot
do, faith can do it
Where have my goals and plans gone?
They are relics of the past.
I have learned to live in the present with unalterable
confidence, a sense of my invincibleness, and the
awareness that "Faith can do it."
