An Addendum

{Note: On December 5, 1955, the first day
of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, when more
than 3,000 people gathered in and around
Holt Street Baptist Church, which was four
days after Rosa Parks had been arrested
for refusing to give her bus seat to a white
person, also the day Rosa Parks was tried
and found guilty of having violated Alabama's
segregation laws and the afternoon of that
day when the Montgomery Improvement
Association (MIA) was founded to give
structure to the Montgomery Bus Boycott
which was not quite one day old, Martin Luther
King, Jr., was elected to serve as president
and this scribe, Uriah J. Fields, was elected
to serve as recording secretary of the MIA.
The evening of that day at the mass meeting,
before Dr. King introduced Rosa Parks to
that mass audience I read from the Bible
Psalm 34:1-6 and the 19th verse which says,
Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the Lord delivered him out of them all.

this Scripture has been a favorite of mine
