IN REMEMBRANCE: OF THREE SIBLINGS AND A BROTHER-IN-LAW

When in less than two years three siblings and a brother-in-law die natural deaths the impact can be weighty. But my soul refuses to despair or question God. Instead, I celebrate as I remember their lives and embrace their legacies.
Commencing on April 3, 2012 and ending on Febraury 23, 2014, (22 months and 3 weeks) three of my siblings, a brother and two sisters, and a brother-in-law, transitioned from terrestrial earthbound mortality to that celestial realm called immortality. My brother David departed this life on April 3, 20l2 at the age of 80, My sister Henrietta departed this life on June 24, 2012 at the age of 94, My sister Ruth departed this life on July 14, 2013 at the age of 98, My brother-in-law George departed this life on February 23, 2014 at the age of 87. Each of these precious souls lived beyond the three score and ten years promised them according to the Bible. Combined they lived 359 years. They were productive and compassionate people. Although in this tribute there is not enumeration of their achievements and contributions, which were many, to humankind, suffice that I say, because of their terrestrial journeys the world is a better place. They were not great but they were good. And I hasten to say, a good person who is not great is ten thousand times better than a great person who is not good. Their legacies will continue to bless not only their offspiring but humankind, including people yet unborn.. Their children kept and will continue to keep the first Commandment with promise that admonishes children to "Honor their mothers and fathers." Likewise, they will continue to be honored by their siblings and brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. With my awareness of how wonderful their terrestrial journeys have been it is impossible for me to imagine how marvelous will be their and my endless celestial celebration. Thank you friends for your beautiful living. I am proud and glad to have been your brother or brother-in-law. Thank you for your endless love; Your presence will never depart from me. I was not struck particularly at a loss by your loss because it is normal in the course of things when people live long lives. However, I was struck by your fine reference to the difference between great and good. For that I am very grateful.

First, my sincere condolences for the loss of your two sisters, your brother and brother-in-law over the past two years. You've have had much to grieve, but at the same time you have had much to cherish and joyfully commemorate.

Your words of love are a testimony to each of their "good" lives. Your wrote elegantly about their impact on you and your family. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and many blessing to you and yours.
