There is a quiet desperation that sinks into my soul
a faltering, a fumbling a hectic fluctuation
with passing breeze and careless scent
reminders of a moment sold
hearts outstretched to listen still
while time does rent this hollow shell.
I am spent, unconscious grief moves feet in habit, smile rehearsed, enthusiastic actor's verse.
Give me the script! I've not to say.
Only questions. Keep them talking
lest the shiver give away
that I am gone,
a walking wait for death's release
to Heaven's gate.
