Happy Fathers Day!

 

To all the fathers out there

Just these few words I'll share

So you'll know that I do care

That whilst I'm still here

I will share fathers feeling

Near and far and everywhere

Let no man shed a tear

Rather let's all thank the Lord

For giving us sons or daughters

Making us be proud fathers

During all the passing years

Then in love fair and clear

For each father or yet to be

I'm saying, happy fathers day.

Enjoyed this one, especially the last line addressed to fathers yet to be. The power of poetry to speak on our behalf, long after we are gone..and the faith that God will continue to make humans multiply.

Not that different in essence from my own poem of the same name though I'm not a religious person. I chose to ridicule the commercialisation of relationships and say that as loong as we have love and laughter in the family every day is a day to celebrate.

Thanks for your comment on my Ode To Politicians - I think the best way forward is if you pray for them and I attack them with ridicule.

Beautiful tribute to Father's everywhere. I lost my Father many years ago, but I thank God for my heavenly Father every day I live.
