In memory of Duane

On my ride down a quiet country road with a brilliant summer sun; there came a song that filled all the voids and completed this glorious event and left me with a smile that felt as if all was so right within my world.

Green fields on rolling hills; where the tall grass dances to gentle breezes and peach trees scent the air with fragrantly sweet delight.

Before me were blue skies and soft floating white clouds that dotted the horizon, high above the distant mountains that completed this portrait of nature.

As my car traveled along a bending and rolling back country road; I heard the sounds of a guitar played so beautiful; I mean, only heaven could sound so good.

Soft and sweet as if written just for this trip; making me take notice of what my eyes were drinking in.

I heard chords played so soft and sweet, this master’s slide was beyond my belief.

To possess such a talent to create and then play, the sweetest of slide guitar, that masterpiece of sound has stayed with me until this very day.

How does a man compose in reality a collection of notes and then turn around and play them with such feeling?

Truly he is a man who was truly blessed, to create a magnificent picture using only his guitar, filled with such passion, such clarity, truly a gift from above.

So thank you Duane Allman, for your gift of your songs, you were truly a genius who left us much too soon.

I'll confess that I've not listened much to the Allmann brothers, and I assume this is about one of them, but I can completely relate to the feeling of connection you can get from a musicians magic with words and song, and I have written about it on here many times before. Enjoyed, thank you.
