A SEED

Love's not a trick,

with the nod of your head.

Not a romp in the hay,

nor words meaninglessly said...

 

It's pain from within,

when one is without...

Your brightest of stars,

when they are about...

 

True love rings deep,

as a silent alarm.

Not the wave of a wand

or gasp at one's charm.

 

It's sun in the morning,

your blanket at night.

Air that you breathe

or just having insight...

 

Love is a seed,

you plant in your soul.

An ember that grows,

when the fire gets cold...

 

With no guarantees,

that's what love is about.

Although embers flicker,

the flame won't go out.

This poem brings warmth into the reader's mind and heart.
These lines avoid all clichés on love and I like them very much:

"True love rings deep,

as a silent alarm."

Just the opposite of today's disposable, superficial world.
