The magical bond we developed
challenged our childhood with tender
moments of youthful desires.
Stolen moments in our secret place...
The kisses, embraces and promises
we vowed to each other, were
only our initiation to life.
Time moved but did not destroy
the trust and longing that, only
we knew, must, one day, accept
the raging passions within.
Years have passed and only the players
have changed. Our love consumated
in different scenes and on new stages...
But we know our friendship is special.

One of my teachers in high school once said that most people go through life with shallow friendships. If you find one or two friends whom you can share a deep connection with...count yourself lucky. I thought those words were ridiculous back then. Now I know they are true. These types of friends shine best when we are down; the other kind scamper into the darkness at the first sign of trouble.
