We walk on broken dreams,
thirsting for the River Lethe
to ease our minds into
surviving another night.
Our backs, burdened with
relentless sorrows we
refuse to leave behind,
ache with remorse.
Eyes, unable to weep,
see only the white line,
following it into obscurity.
We falter, and in the fall
reach for another.
Support, comfort, are shared
and we find strength in
sharing our weaknesses.
Voices are heard,
joined into prayer, into song.
Burdens are lifted
by the hands of others.
We dream again,
knowing we are not alone.
