The TV is on.
I see the stars coming down the red carpet.
As an actress myself I think
"Why can't I have that fame?
I want to be remembered forever.
I want to change the world.
I'm good enough!"
I see sadness in a pair of famed eyes.
I check the TV guide.
And then I realize the darkness of fame.
For this show is not about winning awards.
It's not about who you are.
Fame can destroy you.
Some seek to be famous
And in turn are remembered in hate.
Some, like a certain man named Shakespeare
Are remembered beautifully.
Some are so talented they would shatter preconceptions
And yet they are only remembered by the audience that saw them in their local community theatre.
And then we compare them.
Those remembered breifly happen to marry wonderful people
And live successful lives in peace and happiness.
Their friends adore them.
They help those in need.
They give their talent to those who need it.
They are, indeed, a legacy.
Perhaps they will be remembered forever in their community.
And that little voice desiring fame.
Will be satisfied with a small memorial to them.
And then there are those who's faces are everywhere.
They see people walking with their friends freely.
They envy them.
They dream of a white picket fence.
A quiet home.
A peaceful life.
Money means nothing to them.
For it cannot buy them peace.
It cannot buy them true appreciation.
It cannot buy them love.
So perhaps fame isn't everything.
Would you give up the love of your life for fame?
Perhaps it's true when it is said
That if you change one life, you change the world.
You are famous to that life.
And so the show on tv goes to commerical.
The announcer says that we will soon return
To the show of honoring
The memory of
Kurt Cobain.
