Looking Back

Unconventional in form is this poem, but maybe that's OK just this once?

 


I've thought it over and I've decided
That I'm tired of getting older
My mind returns to days of yore
When I was young and bolder.


These days I stop and analyze
I cogitate and agonize
I'm much more prone to compromise
It's rather disappointing......


So from this day as I go forward
I'm turning back the clock
To my days of tie dyed t-shirts
Lazy days listening to rock.


I'll drift through days
Inside my haze
And through the maze
Of life's last years I'll drift.....

It's funny how those days seem clearer, the older you get. I didn't go in for tie-dyed shirts, being almost one decade earlier I believe, for me it was circular skirts, or pencil slim skirts, 3 inch high heels and figure hugging sweaters. This is my first visit back to AD since around August sometime, where has the time gone? Jackie <> <

This is a deviation from your usual upbeat self, but a very well written poem. I really enjoyed it. If it hadn't been for my ability to almost literally go back in time, I never would have been able to write my book.

This is great, Pamela. I have never given up on wearing tie-dyes, they are bright, bold and beautiful...though I no longer dance naked at concerts, and that is a good thing! Wonderful outlook.
