I struggle to find the proper words
To compose my scattered thoughts
With mixed emotions I touch the keys
The feelings this day has brought.
A tribute to my Mother it’s meant to be
Though she’s no longer here
Good times, sad times, mix and blend
She’s been gone now for three years.
I never really knew the person
Behind the "Mom" façade,
That may sound strange to some of you
But it really isn’t odd.
A very private person she was
She had a "hidden" life
Beyond the one of motherhood,
Beyond the role of wife.
The box of old love letters
She had kept throughout the years
Brought sadness to my heart
Then understanding through my tears.
I never knew her restless side
She needed the validation,
I hope her spirit has found some peace,
True freedom and elation.
Today I said a silent prayer
To tell her she was missed,
And in my mind I held her hand
And her soft cheek I kissed.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom………..
