When I arrived at church today

A letter I spied from Aesop – Hooray!

Propped upon my desk it awaited me

I tore it open to read with glee…

But glee soon fled as I read the note

In shaky hand little Aesop wrote:

“Dear Pam I’m sorry to announce

a passing cat upon my family did pounce.

My wife and kids all bit the dust

So leave this place I simply must.

I’ve packed my bags and hit the road

This loss has been a heavy load.

But as I travel I promise I’ll write -

I’ll visit friends and see the sights.

Perhaps in time I’ll start anew

But til that happens I’ll say adieu.”

As Aesop travels – you never know –

On YOUR doorstep he just might show.

Meanwhile when he calls or writes to me

I’ll share his adventures for you all to see.

We’ll wish him well as his journey starts

For Aesop’s saga has won our hearts!
