In days of old, when knights were bold,
When wenches served the meade,
Debauchery and rowdy nights
Caused innocence to flee.

Things were so very different then
Did you ever stop to think?
They never bathed, or washed their clothes,
Imagine how they’d stink!

If you just stop and consider
About how many things
Not bathing would effect their lives
From serfs right up to Kings!

At long tables they’d sit to take their meals
Far away from one another
‘Twas not to give them eating room
Twas so they’d not smell their brother!

They’d be forever stuffing snuff
Up noses to defend
Against the smell of people near
Oh how they would offend!

Imagine wearing suits of armor
Bloody battles with deadly foes,
They may have looked quite dashing
But to get near them - HOLD YOUR NOSE!
