LITTLE MISS 1565 song lyrics

by Joel Sattler

The day that the clowns cried I was still alive

but now just a ghost little miss fifteen sixty five

the circus is gone now I wander the night

looking for lions little miss fifteen sixty five

Barnum and Bailey and Ringling and more

came to Hartford town nineteen and 44

we sat in the bleachers we laughed and we clapped

for trick horseback riders and brave acrobats

the Wallenda family were high on the wire

when suddenly the big top burst into fire

the crowd it went crazy the lights all went dark

except for the red flame begun with a spark

the ringmaster shouted the power went down

he called out a warning but none heard the sound

the people stampeded, red hot wax fell like rain

why I had to die no one ever explained

they say nearly 200 people there died

but 2 hundred thousand stayed up all night crying

the next day they found me without life or name

with no one to claim me and no one to blame

they gave me a number not know who I was

but somebody missed me and somebody loved

and now I'm a spirit who watches every show

and what name they call me no one ever knows

The day that the clowns cried I was still alive

but now just a ghost little miss fifteen sixty five

the circus is gone now I wander the night

looking for lions little miss fifteen sixty five

This is a sad story, Joel. I had never heard of the event until reading it here. You've done a skillful job writing about it, giving life to the ghost of Little Miss.
