in the beginning
Chaos nothing is
then out of the void
Gaia came to live

and both love and light
and the dark abyss
they all came into being
though we call it myth

the earth gave birth to sky
the sky made love to her
and she gave birth to Titans
who ruled over the earth

Coeus, Crius, Cronus,
Ocean, Hyperion,
Phoebe, Rhea, Theia,
6 daughters and 6 sons

Mnemosyne remembers
how the deed was done
Themis, Tethys, Iapetus
when the world was one

Cronus cut his father
and then he did fall
and took his place in heaven
to rule over all

but Cronus ate the children
till Zeus tricked him to give
released them to Tartarus
and now on Olympus lives

his first child was Athena
to whom all knowledge comes
and all of time that passes
seen under moon and sun

but now on Mount Olympus
the ghosts of gods do dwell
the myths are now all shadows
and down in Hades Hell

and when we stop and pray
the ancient ones still sleep
but there may come a day when
they wake from their sleep
