NO MORE LIES song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

based on AUGURIES OF INNOCENCE by William Blake
[first line by Harlan Ellison]

All the lies that are my life
are the truth under the knife
if I have to take a stand
I will make it as a man

To see the world in a grain of sand,
And hold heaven in a flower,
infinity right there in your hands
eternity in an hour

no more lies
no more lies
want to hear
no more cries
no more lies
no more tears
want to live
without fear

A robin redbreast in a cage
Puts all of heaven in a rage
He who shall hurt the little wren
Shall never be beloved by men.

The caterpillar on the leaf
Repeats to thee thy mother's grief.
Kill not moth or butterfly,
For the last judgement draweth nigh.

A truth that's told with bad intent
Beats all the lies you can invent
no more lies, be still my heart
No more lies, right from the start

It is right that it be so;
Man was made for joy and woe;
And when we learn this we shall know,
that through the years we can safely go.

Joy and woe are woven fine,
A clothing for the soul divine.
Under every grief and pine
Runs a golden thread entwined

He who mocks the infant's faith
Shall be mocked in age and hate
He who teach the child to doubt
from the grave will not get out.

The strongest poison ever found
Came from Caesar's laurel crown.
this the curse of the human race
to live in fear and in disgrace

If the sun and moon should doubt,
They would all at once go out.
To be in passion good may do,
But not if it takes over you.

Every night and every morn
Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.

Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night
We are led to believe a lie
When we see not through our own eye

God appears, and God is light,
To those poor souls who dwell in night;
But in human form displays
To those who dwell in realms of day

All the lies that are my life
are the truth under the knife
if I have to take a stand
I will make it as a man

To see the world in a grain of sand,
And hold heaven in a flower,
infinity right there in your hands
eternity in an hour

no more lies
no more lies
want to hear
no more cries
no more lies
no more tears
want to live
without fear
