I was just another foolish man
until you saw the best in me
didn't know I didn't understand
I didn't know what I could be
all night, streets were wet
the city lights were halos yet
try so hard but I can't forget
what I see
you were, always right
I couldn't see that for so long
down to my last cigarette
I was wrong
un-
derneath the ground I
hear
the sound of braking
mean
while in scrapers
see
the city waking
cross
the central I can
smell
the scent of baking
peo-
ple coming out to
start another day
alone
took for granted all the love I had
I didn't know it could go bad
I was stupid and then you were gone
I was wrong
now I don't know how to look for you
I don't know who or what I should do
tonight I'll wander through the empty streets
and look into each face I meet
no
one looks into my
eyes
they only step a-
side
avoiding any
touch
are they afraid that
much
I want to be a
stone
that never feels a
thing
there's no way to a-
tone
forever be
alone
