everybody wants to be set free
to life the life they can
the factories and farms
are forever poverty
the families are trapped
in a form of slavery
and no matter how much bravery
the violence and the misery
will last as long as money
just don't give a damn
these children are heroic
cross a thousand miles of desert
just to make the other side
on their own two feet to stand
these children are magnificent
no matter where they go or went
deserving life and happiness
deserving of a chance
at amnesty
America the land of liberty
this is the place where God has made for thee
a truly promised land

A folk song for today with a strong message. I have mixed thoughts about this, knowing that allowing unbridled immigration would overpopulate the country very quickly and cause tremendous infrastructure problems already experienced in many major cities. In many countries in the world, the United States stands like a beacon of hope to the oppressed and poor. They would flood here by the millions if given the chance,… Even from China. The children at the southern border are just the tip of the mass migration that would ensue if we said, "you all come."
I'm sorry, but that's the fact of the matter. Most people in this world would be much better off staying where they are and making their own nest a better place.
