This is the word of the Lord
to Zerubbabel of Persia
"Not by might nor by power
but by My Spirit"
not by might nor by power

Who are you great mountain?
How can I come near it?
before you I am but a plain
bring forth the capstone to explain
with shouts of "Grace, grace to it!"

The hands of Zerubbabel
laid foundation of this temple
his hands shall also finish it
no words were e're more simple

and then know will thee
the Lord of hosts sent Me to you
for seven shall rejoice to see
the plumb line in your hand
the plumb line in your hand

they are the eyes of the Lord
which to and fro they scan
they scan throughout the land
two olive trees they stand
left and right of the lampstand

what are these olive trees
that stand to left and right
these are the anointed ones
not by power nor by might
not power nor by might

and so the Lord in mysterious ways
works His wonders to perform
and in His mercy and His will
our souls may be reborn
our souls may be reborn
