learned to shoot a thousand rounds

with a thought within his head
walk through Flanders Fields the dead

a million troops
disembarked a foreign land
stood upon the foreign sand
showed him where the poppies grow
but what it meant he didn't know
it wasn't any fun

Well written about the horror of war for the average Johnny out there. I just saw the movie, Jarhead, about what it's like to become a marine in modern warfare. It was a shocker on several fronts.
