here is where I love you yet
where the dark pines were unwound
the moon shines on the wandering wet
chasing the same day around

the fog goes down on dancing shadows
silver gull slips from the sun
sometimes a candle held up high
is higher than the stars can run

o the black cross of a ship
sailing solo up and early
even my poor soul is wet
I hear the sea resounding surly

Here is where I love you here
this is a port the port is near
here is where I love you here
where the sky is blue and clear

here I love you and in vain
the horizon tries to hide you
still in love cold in the rain
here you know I am beside you

sometimes on these somber ships
my kisses take a ride along
but they fail to disembark
never knowing what was wrong

I see myself forgotten here
as these old anchors turned to rust
the docks are sad as afternoon
comes in and paints the sky with dust

my life grows hungry uselessly
I love what cannot come to be
you are so far away from me
I love you helplessly

my boredom struggles with the dusk
but night comes and it sings to me
the moon turns round as if it must
go ticktock like a clockwork dream

the biggest stars all have your eyes
the windy pines have my desire
to want to sing your name surprise
with their falling leaves of wire
