THORN BIRDS

for once in my life
I'll sing the knife
my heart will beat true
like the thorn birds do

like a thorn bird I fly
like a thorn bird I'll die
and in death be free
in one ecstasy

the thorn may sting
the world hear to me sing
and when I'm gone
all that's left is a song

Short but bittersweet. Does have a real sting to it.
