"none of them knew the color of the sky"
- 'the open boat' - by stephen Crane
.
I walked into the unforgiving ocean
cold as witches tit and twice as hard
I thought it would take away my pain
and carry me away
but I had gone too far
you can not swim to the island
you can not swim to the bay
all you can do is swim through the night
until it becomes the day
the unforgiving ocean
is the color of the sky
no one can know it no one can guess
it's not a question of no or yes
and when all your blood is gone
and you just can not go on
the unforgiving ocean
sings an ocean song

Was just surfing around and was lured to the Author's Den.
Titles provoked me several times and the delivered expectations fell short often.
Saw your "unforgiving Ocean"...had to investigate...anything having to do with seas and heavens
Stephen Crane reference perfect...no one knew..
"cold as a witch's tit" ...my dad would say that often being a product of the WWII bunch
It's a universal definition of slowly-moving molecules
"Twice as Hard" - could I even imagine that...hyperbole coming from left field
The ocean does alleviate, unfurl, unburden, dissipate, mollify, cordon off, distract...
The nighttime maritime expanse dares you to grasp consciousness, endure till dawn(ing)
Massive tons of salty water reflect heavenward
Binary restricts and yet is freeing
One from Column A?
Any occasion is suitable for song singing.
Thank you for your insights and sensibilities...they were life preservers!
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
