Risks I once took with abandon
Fail to follow through my fear
Years have passed with defeat
Now imprisoned with every decision near
No choices, no reasoning, no prayers will save
From the downward fall I’ve embraced
My edge, my armor I’ve mended too often
For it’s use to salvage the broken
No shallow waters or lights to guide me
Alone with only years within
Each canvas portrays a story of loss
Since I fell so far years ago
No puzzle pieces remain to shed hope
Only chances and places I cannot show
Yet, I smile in the midst of the chaos
Take each failure to rise as it’s fate
Defeated, I’ve little left to offer
Beyond the patience I’ve learned to wait
Discovering wisdom in the lowest of hurt
To save, to lead for the future that holds
Many years I have hoped to be given to try
Before my hand has been chosen to fold.
