A Moment in Time

The words melted on my lips,
never to be heard by you.
My feelings by fear eclipsed,
childish notion; it all seemed so new,

though it wasn’t, not by far,
but somewhat different this time.
You stood before me just as you are,
I felt my heart beat’s rapid climb.

I’m not afraid though, not of you,
just confused by where I’ve been.
New-made, the morning dew
takes me back to times when

deception and hurt was the way
and no more can I cross the line
of trust, no more lighthearted, or gay,
though for your warmth I pine.

The words I stopped, never spoke
a loud -- I wished you’d guessed,
but neither one of us the silence broke,
and now, alone, I think perhaps it’s best.

This is very moving. I love the sadness and the sense of lonely well being at the end. Nicely done.

"A Moment in Time" reflects moments in the momentary life, and makes the readers feel the beats of a heart that knows the road to wisdom.

Enjoyable reading from a heartily writing.

Carmen, such consolation in resignation? You say so much in these few lines. Excellent work.

Many have defined the fear of loneliness. Here you have defined the loneliness of fear. Very nice.

Wow this is a sad one. The last stanza says a lot. Silence is a sure bet to kill a relationship. I hope all is well.

As you say, Carmen, it was for the best. Life teaches that everything and every event proceeds and ends just as it was meant to end; therefore, we must not believe what we can see nor what we can hear, for it all is an illusion meant to keep us from reality. Wonderfully good write. ~~Bonnie Q

I love this, Carmen. It reverberates with a
truth many of us poets have experienced, then
been inspired by, in retrospect.

Carmen, very touching write and one that reminds me of a situation quite similar.
I note and like how you're trying your hand at various styles, and rhyme, by the way.
