DEE

From a long ago memory, he walked into my life,

and it seems I’ve repaid him with trouble and strife.

I’m weaker and softer than I’d like to be

in most of the areas he seems strongest to me.

He loves unconditionally, with a fierce loyalty,

whether it be God or family, or me.

He has a long fuse, but step back if he blows.

His eyes turn a deeper blue – and that’s when I know.

The explosion isn’t violent, or even loud, you see.

At first, just a tremor in his right jaw is found,

then the change in his iris will be

the final indication – you’ve overstepped your bounds.

Take heart, one and all, for this gentle man is wise.

In discipline, his love abounds,

and in earnestness he tries

to teach God’s holy principles, and in his words are found

forgiveness and patience,

tolerance and love.

A shelter in the time of need is he – Dee.
