I wrote this after watching the Twin Towers fall. It is meant to be a message for all of you as well. We never know when the end will come and rob of us these three words. Say them to yourself first then to the others' who you've neglected. It will be worth it to them and yourselves....before it is too late!
Thank you for all the kind prayers and thoughts for the loss of my brother Tommy.
A special thanks to Kate for her poem.
Words pale when the heart has a more powerful message.
Perhaps this poem will speak for me.
Susan*
I tried to count my blessings
Just a few minutes before
Today was such a tragedy
I just couldn't ignore
The reasons that we love
The chances that we get
The moments when we hold so dear
The hearts we won't forget
The way the world keeps turning
Disasters that can take
Away the ones we hold so dear
In seconds of their wake
Oklahoma bombings
We never will forget
Trade Towers standing tall
Next minute GONE...and yet
Americans persevere
We're brave and still stand tall
Love outweighs the hatred
Faith lives and after all
Love comes above all of these
Its in our hearts...our creed
Tell someone you love them
Its important...plant the seed
Americans are about the love
The hearts that beat so true
Tell the world you love them
For me and them and you
Don't waste another minute
Another second take
Tell someone you love them
Before it is too late.
Something inside me breaks like glass as I read your words here... moved, mortified, humbled, broken. I wish I used the three "key words" more often than I do, especially to those who are with me always who I just assume "know" of my feelings! Somehow it often seems "more" necessary to use them on greetings cards to those we barely know! But, both are good, and is what we need to hear every day of our lives... that and the other three equally emotive and choking words: "I'm sorry!" Methinks the time has come to be upfront about both...Standing with you, Susan, and your heartfelt appreciation of such a simple gesture of friendship rocks me to the core. Love surely is the key to overcoming the ridiculous sense of distance between us as individuals in the family of man. Thank you for your selflessness as you pour yourself out in this write, notwithstanding your own deep grief and pain at such a time. "Blessed are those who NEED to mourn for they SHALL be comforted" - words that I believe from the bottom of my heart because I trust in the God who spoke them - and I think you do to. So shall it be... Bless you HEAPS!! Kate xx
I agree with you, Susan. Most say "I love you" with no meaning, it's just something to say like "hi" like a ritual. It's sooo much more than that
This is lovely
