Some chores for the laborer magnify their dreams
He that tills instead of writes sees the mighty stream
He watches clouds that change the land with shadows of promised rain
He smells the hint of campfires close this beauty is his brain
His blistered hands signify the promise of fresh fruit
His muscled arms tell the tale of leathered flesh and soot
The farmland tilled gives him the chance to frame each meadow flower
Then when it rains its soothes his soul with a cleansing evening shower
He the laborer...twisted strength...the words that never come
The painted earth he visualizes...his emotions more...than some
He goes to sleep and in his dreams his day becomes his home
He dreams the words that he worked abreast in a living poem
The tiller works with beauty close he is a man of dreams
He doesn't have the words sometimes instead he fords the stream
He smells the freshly home cooked bread then closes eyes to taste
He may be a bunioned farmhand but nothing goes to waste

Except to his tummy... Reminds me of my Uncle Don, now 95, a big man, with a big heart and hands who worked a small farm until he could no more and returned it to trees. A man for all seasons, he always amazed me with his hobbies and knowledge. I must get to see him again soon.

Those who are close to nature are nearer to heaven. Salt of the earth. We could not survive without them. "...a living poem." How beautiful and how true. Some create both, I know many. Wonderful tribute to those who create abundance from the sweat of their brow...

"He doesn't have the words sometimes instead he fords the stream" It is the old adage, "Those that can't do it, write about it." Okay, so I may have rearranged the words, using "write" instead of "teach," whadda ya expect, you gotta know who you're dealing with here. LOL

Labour is the rearrangement of energy and matter in this world. We are part of creation but we cannot create, no matter how much we'd like to think we can. We can make nothing out of something, but not the other way around. We can send probes to Mars and beyond, but we cannot create a fly. The energy that really matters is that which we use for spiritual matters, the matter without matter. The infinite energy that is capable of moving our spirits to the far corners of the universes.

Hard-earned write, Susan! The Laborer so goes with the idea I had in mind in Stairway to Heaven posted in my den, about the land belonging to the ancestors and the proof is the family land deeds stored in urns and baskets in heaven. I came from washboard and butterchurn farm people and they worked the land hard. You do reap what you sow in life and this is a wonderful confirmation of that. I can smell the sourdough and homemade chokecherry jelly!

The Master Craftsman, Wordsmith, and Skilled Labourer all have one thing in common...they are all professionals, they trust their gut instincts, and they hone their talents and skills religiously and intensely to perfect their arts...:)
They learn from everyone, keep an open and receptive mind and heart, and let no dust or impurities settle in their pristine hearts..:)
This is a Tour De Force of a composition that teaches and educates us
in diligence, honesty and total awareness of our environment !
Blessings
Peter
