Storm clouds swirl, inside

My head, spinning like a carousel.

Faster, music blaring, until my being is light

I arise from the dreams.

These sleepless visions that cause me to tremble,

To float through the night, like a wandering spirit

I stay awake, because

When I try to sleep I’m haunted

By thoughts that race in circles in my mind.

Thoughts of betrayal, of loss,

Thoughts that may come to pass,

Unless I keep my mind alert, always vigilant

Don’t stop.  Don’t sleep.

They come like a flood.  They engulf my soul.

These thoughts that keep me ever wakeful

Give voice to these, my silent fears?

I dare not speak a word.  For, if spoken,

Thoughts become reality and walls are erected.

Structures that cannot be

Torn down as easily as those made of mortar

And of stone, separate us from life and love.

My tongue, I will hold.

My thoughts, I will keep safe in my weariness,

Until, one day, peace comes.  Only then will I sleep.

What a magnificent way to articulate the "demons" we battle, even while we sleep, especially while we sleep. Another triumph my dear!! Clearly, this is one of your callings...

I try soothing music- and if that isn't working- a pill.
But I'm getting more at peace lately.
Think good thoughts-
Best wishes,

John

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
