Written during a visit to India in March 2013.

fields, parcels of land

arranged in neat patterns

land flattened out

over time

falling away on one side

in steps or steppes

in the open field a scarecrow

while in the train

a man holding an old silver kettle

calls out: chai chai

a stiff breeze

& in a dusty paddy field

three cows, eat on small stalks

gathering up crumbs

from the last harvest

feeding with my soul on seasons gone

outside, further along, a lone large tree

a centre piece

 in an open plain

inside, a man lies sleeping

on a luggage rack

in a gritty coach

packed with humans

haitia-patna express

loping

on fast legs

to pundag

This is a portrait of a desolate life, a desperate life where meaning can only be found in the simplest of virtues. You might have titled it "Fields without Dreams." A stark message.

The images are quite vivid of the surrounding countryside and the train.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
