My Wife passed away nearly 24 years ago. Tomorrow is her birthday and thoughts of her always come creeping back more often as that day nears. This is a poem I wrote about her nearly 10 years ago.

THINKING OF CHRISTINE

It’s not yet six o‘clock.
I just returned from happy hour fun.
Only had a couple beers,
but my night’s already nearly done.

I really want to hold her,
but it seems there’s just no way.
So, I’ll watch TV and think of her
just like every other day.

We were never promised easy,
we sometimes travel the bumpy road.
When I’m going through hard times,
her memory helps to ease my load.

I’d like to spend more time with her,,,,,
oh she’ll visit, but she can’t stay.
Though my bottle’s nearly empty,
thoughts of her don’t go away.

She’s often all I think about,
she visits nearly every day.
We had hoped for a lifetime,
but it didn’t turn out that way.

Now all that’s left are memories
of a love that was tried and true .
And the memories seem to get in the way
of finding someone new.

It isn't amazing that time heals much but not all. True emotions run very deep. Check this out please... your verse

Now all that’s left are memories...

Please read my lyrical poem "A Sad Song For Someone" that I wrote last year. The refrain similarity is uncanny and the lyrics may provide comfort..

By the way I grew up in Jackson, Michigan

Richard,
This is a heart touching poem. You really need to shake this off and get on with life...You sound like a very loving man, someone would be very lucky to have you in their life..Why not make her happy and find someone to spend the rest of your life with..

Much peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"
