Games We Once Played

The aging process taked a toll, but it can be an enjoyable ride. It's up to you.

GAMES WE ONCE PLAYED

We liked watching chicks,
hopin' we'd get to cop a feel,
checkin' out their boobs
and wondering if they were real.

In our early teens,
thinking we were grown,
we'd sometimes call them up,
then just hang up the phone.

Long before CALLER ID
you could get away with that,
but with today's technology
they'd know exactly where you were at.

Years later we looked back,
realizing we were just kids
and it was hard for us to believe
all the stupid stuff we did.

We had really grown,
by the calendar at least,
yet sometimes we’d still act up,
it's the nature of the beast.

We liked to drink and party,
watch our team play some ball,
maybe wager on a game of pool
at the local billiard hall.

Oh, we still liked the ladies,
they sometimes liked us too.
In fact, I’d include my lady
in most everything I’d do.

She's wasn’t much into sports,
never played a game of pool,
but she knew it was my game
and she liked to chalk my cue.

Later still I realized
I wasn’t a “spring chicken” any more
“The horse had left that barn.”
It was time to close that door.

One day you're looking back,
not having any sorrows,
eager to enjoy the time that’s left,
running short on your tomorrows.

You’ve expanded your horizons
looking for a brand new start,
there’s a lady in you life
and her love now owns your heart.

We now live a gentler life,
our hair has mostly grayed
and now we only talk about
the games that once we played.
