MY LIFE  Chapter III (TROUBLED YEARS)

Then, their mom gets sick,
struggles with her health.
If there were anything we could do
we'd spend all our meager wealth.

She puts up an admirable fight.
but the odds aren't in her favor.
You wonder how you'll make it?
Was it worth those years of labor?

You wonder, am I to blame?
Was there more I could have done?
If one of us had to die,
why couldn't I have been the one?

Life is sometimes short,
you learn to take your lumps.
Another lesson learned,
it's the worst of life's speed bumps.

For a while your life is aimless,
you don't know which way to turn.
You know you're not handling things,
there's so much you've yet to learn.

You take comfort with a friend,
probably way too soon.
She's recently been divorced,
so you're singing similar tunes.

She helps you through the hard times,
you learn to smile again.
You've no idea where you're heading,
you no longer have a plan.

Somehow, life goes on,
time so quickly passes.
First you're learning to walk,
then you can't see without your glasses.
